Head of Sales and Marketing (Biz Dev)

Heading up business development, including all sales and marketing efforts, you will educate business owners and decision makers on modern marketing strategies, to help them transform their companies and reach their goals!

Benefits/Salary/Perks:

  • Salary range $65,000 - $79,000 annually, plus up to $15,000 in commissions.

High-level responsibilities include:

You’ll work daily to prospect for new ideal-fit clients, bring prospects into the sales funnel, network in the industry, generate new sales leads, schedule and run sales meetings, prepare proposals, close sales, forecast, and oversee company marketing efforts.

Tactical responsibilities, typical day stuff:

  • Developing and hosting informational webinars, including designing those presentations
  • Setting goals and developing plans for lawn, landscape, and outdoor living companies 
  • Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs
  • Attending conferences and industry events, travel required
  • Send manual follow-up emails
  • Strategize and set up automated individual and list emails in via journeys and other methods, with the help of copywriters.
  • Use and optimize CRM
  • Outreach via social, email, networking
  • Use technology to execute ongoing prospecting (Researching prospective accounts in target markets).
  • Contribute, edit, and lead website and social content plan.
  • Arrange meetings with prospective clients and key industry professionals
  • Promote the company’s products/services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives
  • Develop quotes and proposals for prospective clients, using company tools and conducting deep research
  • Keep records of sales, revenue, invoices etc. and provide reports
  • Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers
  • Research, planning, and implementing new target market initiatives
  • Pursuing leads and moving them through the sales cycle.
  • Strategize marketing efforts to align with sales goals
  • Meet marketing budgets
  • Oversee company paid media marketing strategy/efforts
  • Meet on zoom with other team members and collaborate

To feel great about the job you’re doing and in order to be successful you’ll want to have the following:

  • Experience and deep knowledge of the lawn, landscape, and outdoor living industry is required. This means paid, professional experience. 
  • Excellent communication skills: You must be able to communicate with prospects/new clients of all backgrounds and educational levels. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills are must-haves.
  • Working knowledge/understanding of sales and digital marketing.
  • A hunger to chase and close new business from inbound and outbound efforts.
  • Organizational skills: You’ll be juggling numerous sales prospects, proposals, contractors, meetings, deadlines, schedules. 
  • Time-management skills: To be successful in this role you’ll need to be able to prioritize your time where it will make the most impact. 
  • Technical and computer skills: You’ll use tools like Slack, HubSpot, Asana, and Zoom, Mailchimp, among many other tools, daily to chat with internal team members, manage your sales pipeline, send emails, manage tasks, organize meeting deadlines, etc.  
  • Drive and self-motivation: This role requires you to be goal-oriented, self-driven, and motivated to push yourself to succeed.
  • A willingness and desire to learn new things and commitment to personal and team development. 


Measurable areas of success, how you will know that you are doing a great job:

  • Selecting and engaging with the right type of client—ie understanding our target client in terms of revenue, quality, marketing budget, etc. 
  • Meeting monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
  • Documenting all conversations thoroughly and accurately in company CRM.
  • Replying to client emails/calls/proposal requests within company response time guidelines.
  • Managing marketing efforts to ensure accuracy, budget, and messaging.
