High-level responsibilities include:

The Director of SEO will be responsible for developing and implementing SEO strategies, reviewing various, relevant data points such as website traffic, rankings and using tools such as SemRush to look for new opportunities. You will be conducting competitor research, keyword and location research. With the help of team members, you will be responsible for driving up rankings and organic leads for all clients. Serving as the company’s SEO expert, you will want to stay on top and ahead of algorithm changes by reviewing resources and identifying opportunities for our clients to continuously receive results, with innovative ideas. 

You will find yourself collaborating closely with various team members including Project Managers, Website Designers, Copywriters, and Paid Media managers to to craft and execute on comprehensive digital strategies and provide integrated solutions.

To be happy and successful in this role, you will want to have a hunger for results, data analysis, enthusiasm about research and learning, and a drive for attention to detail. A college degree is not necessary. It’s the knowledge, curiosity, drive, & pride that help here.

While this role isn’t client facing, you will be working with client facing team members and arming them with information that can be passed along to clients, encouraging company/client collaboration and partnership.

Tactical responsibilities, typical day stuff:

  • Develop and execute effective SEO strategies to regularly increase organic rankings, traffic, and most importantly, leads - for all clients. 

  • Conduct keyword and location research for a new client onboarding, with clear suggestions on timeline and specific selections, as well as reasoning to allow team members and clients to understand logic and plan

  • Support sales efforts with prospect website SEO research and findings.

  • Monitor and report on SEO performance using tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, and other company provided software.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and algorithm changes to adapt strategies accordingly.

  • Work with the copywriting team by sharing ideas and feedback, proactively and reactively, to optimize copy. 

  • Work with the web design team by sharing ideas and feedback, strategy, proactively and reactively, to optimize websites - from initial design/build to updates.

  • Attend team meetings to collaborate on overall improvements and ideas. 

  • Measure performance and optimize based on ROI and KPIs.

  • Lead A/B testing and conversion rate optimization initiatives.

  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify trends and opportunities.

  • Optimize landing pages and customer journeys to improve conversion rates.

  • Create direction and tasks for other team members to support with SEO efforts.

  • Ensure monthly client SEO budgets are met. 

  • Evaluate, report, and drive results with the company’s SEO toolbox of off page and on page strategies, sharing ideas and optimizations to improve and update toolbox. 

  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports.

  • Optimize web content for keywords related to customer products and/or services and their locations. 

  • 'Get your hands dirty’ and get into the backend of client websites to correct errors and technical issues and implement content

  • Support and sometimes lead content strategy. 

  • Help troubleshoot any lead tracking issues.

  • Keep company SEO training documentation on process and methodology updated. 

  • Share wins with Project Managers to allow and encourage communication back to the client.


To feel great about the job you’re doing and in order to be successful you’ll want to have the following:

  • 5+ years of SEO experience: This role requires extensive SEO knowledge.

  • Working in a high volume world: Experience with being responsible for SEO for a minimum of a dozen websites at time. 

  • Expert-level experience working with tools such as: Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Google Ads KeyWord Planner, Google Trends, Moz or similar, and/or related tools

  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills: You will be encouraged to provide recommendations based on your findings and analysis. 

  • Strong understanding of HTML, website design, CSS, and Javascript: For on-page seo updates. 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills: If no one knows about the results you’re providing and how you got there, we can’t celebrate with you!

  • Dependable: in a remote world, your teammates, and our clients, have to be able to depend on you in terms of timeline and quality of work.

  • Proven organizational skills: You’ll be juggling different tasks, account managers needs, other tasks, meetings, deadlines, +. 

  • Time-management skills: To be successful in this role you’ll need to be able to prioritize your time where it will make the most impact.
