Copywriter

Remote - Middletown, DE

At HALSTEAD, we see growth as a system rather than a collection of marketing services, and copy is one of the parts that has to pull its weight inside that system. As a copywriter, you'll write for the landscape and outdoor living companies we partner with, across their websites, blogs, email, social and ads, and every piece you write connects back to what that company is trying to grow. You'll move between different clients, projects and goals instead of living inside one brand with one message, and along the way you'll learn how demand generation, SEO, paid media and sales work together. You'll have the room and the support to keep pushing your craft forward. This position is 100% remote.

What you'll do day to day

  • Write creative, polished copy that fits each client's strategy, tone of voice and growth goals.
  • Build website copy on StoryBrand principles, which is the standard framework our team uses to make the client's customer the hero and give every page a clear path to action.
  • Start with the problem, not the assignment. Understand what the client is trying to accomplish, whether it's spelled out in the brief or something you uncover through good questions and research, and then build the strategy with the team or carry the piece through on your own.
  • Partner with the SEO team on keywords and structure, so that everything you write works for search and for the people reading it. Anything that lives online is SEO content and gets optimized that way, including for visibility in AI search.
  • Generate titles, outlines and hooks.
  • Write with real landscape industry knowledge, so that every piece reads like it came from someone who understands the work, the seasons and the people buying it.
  • Research thoroughly using reputable websites, our Notion Company Hub, client-provided material and internal documentation, and interview the experts on our team when you need the facts straight from the source.
  • Write client job descriptions using their material and comparable postings on job search engines.
  • Track and cite sources for any claims that need support.
  • Help position each client as the expert in their craft, writing for the homeowners and the property and facility managers who are sizing them up before they ever reach out.
  • Work closely with paid media managers, web and graphic designers, the SEO team and project managers to create and review content and keep messaging consistent across every channel.
  • Bring ideas for improving content to the table without waiting to be asked.
  • Talk KPIs comfortably with PMs, designers, paid media, SEO and leadership, and understand how your copy contributes to leads, opportunities and revenue.
  • Bring enthusiasm to a collaborative, positive, solution-oriented culture.
